About Our Studio.
Welcome to the Bar Method South Loop! A pioneer of barre-based fitness workouts, The Bar Method was developed under the guidance of physical therapists to reshape muscles, burn body fat and improve posture. It is a safe, fun, hour-long workout that uses isometric exercises to strengthen and tone all major muscle groups, followed by periods of stretching to elongate, lengthen and align the body. Students see immediate and noticeable results, regardless of fitness level or experience!
We are thrilled to join the diverse and tight knit community of the South Loop! Our studio reflects the urban setting we are housed in with exposed brick and ductwork, but creates a spa-like environment with clean and neutral finishes. We have a serene locker room with three showers and a beautiful lobby with retail and coffee service. We also have a playroom onsite where busy parents can leave their little ones under the watchful eye of our caregivers while they dedicate an hour to themselves.
Owner Julie Gerenrot has an MA in Economics from Northwestern and spent the last 9 years working in finance while pursuing professional dance with Inspiracion Dance Chicago. Her Bar Method journey started in 2009 as a client at the Loop studio. The Bar Method became her lunchtime hour of escape from sitting at a desk and she immediately fell in love with its technique, its relentless focus on form, its power to heal and transform the body and the dedicated community that it fosters. She became an instructor in June of 2013 and believes that the structured and deliberate teaching approach truly allows Bar Method instructors to connect with their students and be the best version of themselves when they teach. The Bar Method has empowered her to become a business owner and she is thrilled to spread her love and passion for this life changing workout with the South Loop community.
